Kickstarter — Trieste: Enter the Fog

Trieste: Enter the Fog is an independent book project situated between documentary practice, visual narrative, and atmosphere. The city of Trieste serves as both subject and framework — not as a destination, but as a condition. Trieste is a place defined by transitions: geographical, political, linguistic, and emotional. Historically shaped by shifting borders and layered identities, the city resists clear categorisation. Fog, a recurring natural phenomenon, becomes the project’s central metaphor — obscuring, softening, and suspending orientation. The book brings together photography, short texts, typographic fragments, and graphic structures. Rather than following a linear storyline, it unfolds as a sequence of impressions: walks, pauses, architectural details, traces of absence. Meaning emerges gradually, through rhythm and proximity, not explanation. Trieste: Enter the Fog is not a guidebook and not a historical account. It is a subjective reading of a city — attentive to silence, surface, and atmosphere. The publication invites the reader to slow down and engage with Trieste as a spatial and emotional experience. Conceived as a carefully crafted print object, the book places strong emphasis on materiality, sequencing, and tactile qualities. Paper, format, and typography are treated as integral narrative elements rather than neutral containers. The project is produced independently and will be financed through Kickstarter. Support enables the final editing, design, printing, and distribution of the book — transforming on-site research and visual exploration into a physical publication. Trieste: Enter the Fog addresses readers interested in contemporary photography, graphic design, artist books, and places defined by ambiguity rather than clarity.
